If you are one of the thousands of borrowers who lost your home to foreclosure from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2011, please be sure that you carefully review your mail.
The State of Florida is mailing claim forms to borrowers who had a mortgage with Ally/GMAC, Bank of America, Citi, JPMorgan Chase, and Wells Fargo. Borrowers will have until January 18, 2013 to submit a claim and be eligible for compensation pursuant to the $25 billion national mortgage settlement with the five major banks, of which Florida will receive approximately $8.4 billion.
It is estimated that about $170 million will be available for cash payments to Florida borrowers who lost their homes. Payment checks are expected to be mailed in mid-2013.
You may fill out the claim form online nationalmortgagesettlement.com or contact the settlement administrator, toll-free, at 1-866-430-8358, or send questions by email to administrator@nationalmortgagesettlement.com.
